Typhoon Koinu has caused 190 injuries and more than 1,700 damage cases nationwide, that’s according to the National Fire Agency on Thursday morning. The Interior Ministry also reported that almost 3000 people have been evacuated across nine counties and cities.

The Economic Ministry says there are currently no flooding incidents, however, power outages have affected more than 200,000 households. Over 79,000 households were still waiting for power restoration as of Thursday morning. Taiwan Power Company employees will carry out restorations as soon as the wind conditions permit.

Interior Minister Lin Yu-chang (林右昌) urges citizens to be cautious and avoid going to the beach or participating in outdoor activities. He also said Taiwan Power Company employees should prioritize their safety before carrying out relevant repair work.
