A bipartisan group of lawmakers from the United States congratulated Taiwan on its National Day in a joint statement on Tuesday. U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, Indo-Pacific Subcommittee Chair Young Kim and Ranking Member Ami Bera, Republican Congressman French Hill, and Democratic Congresswoman Madeleine Dean issued the statement together.

In the statement, the five representatives who visited Taiwan in April wished the country a happy National Day. They also vowed to continue supporting Taiwan in the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including delivering arms sales and strengthening Taiwan-US trade and investment relations.

The lawmakers pointed out that Taiwan is a vibrant democracy and that all democratic countries are responsible for ensuring that Taiwan remains free and open.
