The Taiwan Association of Community Advancement, the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, and the World Taiwan Foundation have teamed up with the Taiwanese government to donate a second batch of refurbished ambulances to Ukraine. The donation was announced at a press conference held at the legislature on Friday.

In his opening remarks, Legislative Speaker You Si-kun (游錫堃) praised the courage and bravery of the Ukrainian people for their resistance against Russian aggression in the past three years. You expressed his gratitude to Taiwan’s well-wishers and philanthropists on behalf of the legislature and commented that the humanitarian act embodies the empathy and care of the Taiwanese people. He said that he believes that providing a helping hand and standing in solidarity with those in need is the only way to bring peace and prevent war.

The donation project’s Ukrainian coordinator Olga Kulish thanked the Taiwanese people for their generosity and timely support. She said the first batch of donated ambulances can already be seen in use assisting war victims in Ukraine now. Those people will remember the heart-shaped Taiwanese and Ukrainian national flags emblazoned on the ambulances.

According to one of the donation project’s volunteers, Bai Canrong (白燦榮), the first batch of 48 decommissioned ambulances were refurbished and shipped to Ukraine in July. It is expected that the second batch of 70 ambulances will be delivered with other medical supplies by November.
