The fourth Taiwan Science Festival will be held from November 4 to 12 with the theme “Basic Sciences Create Future”. The event, co-hosted by the Education Ministry and the National Science and Technology Council, aims to enhance public scientific literacy through a diverse range of events such as exhibitions, experiments, and interactive performances.

Deputy Education Minister Lin Ming-yu (林明裕) says that this year's theme aligns with the United Nations' International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development. The theme highlights the role of basic science in achieving the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals, which include areas such as social progress, economic development, and environmental protection.

During the festival, the Education Ministry and five major science museums around Taiwan will organize activities, including a large-scale science fair, scientific experiment demonstrations, workshops, and lectures. The National Taiwan Science Education Center will also host a competition, inviting elementary and junior high school students to participate in science demonstrations together.

The Taiwan Science Festival has been running since 2020 and has attracted around 1.5 million visitors in the past three years.
