Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) says the Foreign Ministry is paying close attention to the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and China’s President Xi Jinping. Wu made comments in the legislature on Thursday. Biden and Xi are scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the APEC Leader’s Summit in San Francisco in November.
Wu says the ministry is actively maintaining communication with the United States regarding the meeting and its potential implications for Taiwan. Wu cited the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and recent conflicts in the Middle East and emphasized the necessity of maintaining close contact with allied countries to prevent the outbreak of wars.
