Taiwan donated a container of fabric for distribution to women participating in social welfare programs and vocational training courses in Guatemala on Monday. The donation, totaling 888 rolls (about 81,000 yards) of fabric, was made by the Wu Thun-Chih Foundation for Charity and Public Welfare.

Secretariat of Social Work of the President's Wife (SOSEP) Director Sara López invited Taiwan's ambassador to Guatemala Miguel Tsao (曹立傑) to co-host the ceremony marking the donation.

Tsao says the foundation has a long history of donating fabrics to countries in Eastern Europe, Central America, and Africa. This is the first time the foundation has donated to Guatemala through the SimplyHelp Foundation.

López thanked the Taiwan government for their continued efforts to work with non-governmental organizations to support Guatemala. She said the donations have helped improve the lives of many Guatemalans, including the elderly, women, and children.

Tsao says Guatemala and Taiwan celebrate 90 years of diplomatic relations this year and share the achievements of cooperation in the fields of technology, agriculture, public health, women's empowerment, and trade since the establishment of bilateral ties.
