The Taipei Hospital held a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of an acute and critical care building in New Taipei City on Wednesday. Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德), Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) and Deputy Health and Welfare Minister Wang Pi-sheng (王必勝) were among those in attendance at the ceremony.

Costing more than NT$6 billion (over US$186 million), the new building will help alleviate the problem of insufficient medical resources in the New Taipei City area. It will comprise a total of 16 floors and four underground floors and when completed will take the number of hospital beds to 873 from the current 540. The building is projected to be ready by January 27, 2027.

Advanced medical treatment services will be available including robotic surgical systems, positron tomography, and hybrid operating rooms. A baby care center, an early intervention care center, and an elderly care center will also be incorporated into the services provided.
