Switzerland's Lausanne International Institute for Management Development (IMD) ranks Taiwan ninth among 64 major world economies, an improvement of two places compared to last year. The results of 2023’s World Digital Competitiveness Rankings were released on Thursday.
The IMD evaluation uses 3 major aspects, 9 sub-aspects, and 54 indicators to evaluate the energy and readiness of countries around the world to adapt, explore, and fully utilize digital transformation. Taiwan ranked among the top three for seven indicators, of which five ranked first in the world including R&D manpower, information technology, company flexibility, and big data analysis.
The Digital Ministry stated that it will refer to the IMD report to evaluate Taiwan's digital development and future challenges. It said that Taiwan is committed to developing the digital economy and promoting information security, and will expand public-private collaboration to promote digital transformation.
