The Taipei First Girls High School (TFGHS) celebrated its 120th anniversary on Tuesday and invited the Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School Band for a special performance to commemorate the event.
Fondly nicknamed the “Orange Devils” due to their vibrant orange costumes, the Japanese marching band left a lasting impression with their energetic performance at Taiwan’s 2022 National Day celebration. They are visiting Taiwan this time from December 9 to 15.
For the special anniversary performance, the Japanese marching band shared the stage with TFGHS’s very own Marching Band, Honor Guard, and Color Guard. They are one of the distinctive features of the school and are famous for their lively and sharp performances. The conductor even wore a bright orange wig this time around for the special event.
TFGHS Principal Chen Chih-yuan (陳智源) said that students of both high schools share a common love for learning and drive for excellence. Chen added that both marching bands are the best performing student groups in their respective countries. Chen pointed out that because of this, it is a natural fit to invite the Japanese marching band and conduct exchanges.
