The official campaign period for Taiwan’s 2024 presidential election will begin on December 16 and runs through January 12, 2024. Election day itself is January 13.

In a statement on Friday, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said that the legally defined campaign time for each day during the campaign period is from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The estimated number of voters in this election is 19.53 million, though official figures will be released on January 9. According to the CEC, from midnight on January 3 until the end of election day, opinion polls related to the election cannot be conducted. Regulations state that street interviews are also considering opinion polls during this period.

The media is expected to be fair to all candidates and allow time for them to advertise on their platforms. However, advertisements must clearly state their publisher and funding source.
