With only two weeks left before 2024, the Presidential Palace’s New Year’s Day flag-raising ceremony plans have been announced. The festivities, hosted by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Taiwan, will commence on January 1 at 5 a.m. with the theme of “A Vibrant Taiwan, A Sustainable Future.”
The visuals of a sunrise scene of pink and blue outlining towering mountains and turbulent ocean will symbolize the mutual respect and tolerance of all generations, the perseverance to move forward, the concept of a common good, and a sustainable Taiwan.
JCI President Lin Ting-chun (林鼎鈞) says that the five performances featuring school bands, musical groups, and dance troupes will emphasize our new era of women's power. He gives special thanks to President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) for protecting Taiwan with firm and gentle female strength over the past eight years.
Following the performances, a joint band composed of the Defense Ministry and Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a drill at 6 a.m. After the president and vice president arrive on stage, eight representatives from the Ten Outstanding Young Persons will lead the singing of the national anthem. The flag will then be raised at around 6:27 a.m. and 2,300 sweet potatoes representing the hard work of the Taiwanese people will be served to welcome a vibrant 2024 together.
