Over 150 cultural figures gathered to endorse Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Legislator Rosalia Wu (吳思瑤). The event was themed “Culture For Future, Culture For Taiwan” and featured a diverse range of individuals from National Award For Arts winner Lin Pan-song (林磐聳) to graphic designer Aaron Nieh (聶永真), all expressing their hopes for a joint victory and advocating for more cultural public servants in the parliament.
Among the crowd was Lin Jou-min (林洲民) who formerly worked with current presidential candidate Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) during his time as mayor of Taipei. Lin, who was also the former Commissioner of the Taipei City Government’s Department of Urban Development, criticized Ko's administration for the Taipei Dome's opening and publicly endorsed Lai and Wu. Lin emphasized that Taiwan is a nation built on culture, and Lai and Wu are key drivers of this important policy.
Lai said in his speech that he has always believed that culture is the soul of democracy. He compared the country’s strength in the technology sector to the wings that can take Taiwan to any place but said that culture is the root.
Regardless of external opinions, Lai continues his steady and strategic approach, using national policies to articulate his visions and goals, aiming to expand his voter base.
