Chinese import of Taiwanese grouper will resume from Friday. In a press release, China’s Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) spokesperson Zhu Fenglian (朱鳳蓮) confirms that China’s customs general administration has run a comprehensive evaluation and will allow import from qualified and registered fish breeding enterprises.

Zhu says that the previous ban was based on “unacceptable levels of malachite green, crystal violet, and oxytetracycline.” As a result, the Taiwan grouper industry has taken effective measures to improve product quality and ensure the safety of grouper exported to China. Approvals have already been made in the first batch of registrations and the product is ready for shipment.

Zhu adds that she is willing to work together with relevant parties in Taiwan to continue support for the resumption of Taiwan's agricultural and fishery products import into China.
