President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) congratulated the new staff of the Investigation Bureau on Monday at the bureau’s commencement ceremony that welcomed 129 agents.
The new agents, with their individual expertise in taxation, law enforcement, public health, and civil engineering, will be part of the government’s criminal investigation and counterintelligence efforts.
President Tsai commends the Investigation Bureau for its success in combating cyber crimes in the past year, highlighting its accomplishments in intelligence gathering in drug enforcement, anti-corruption, and international law enforcement.
She congratulated the agents who finished the rigorous training and urged them to uphold the values rooted in democracy, human rights, and freedom. President Tsai also highlighted the importance of digital skills that she believes are necessary in combating cybercrime.
Secretary-General of the National Security Council Wellington Koo ( 顧立雄), Minister of Justice Tsai Ching-hsiang (蔡清祥), and Prosecutor General Hsing Tai-chao (邢泰釗) also attended the ceremony.
