With only 18 days left to election day, candidates are not the only ones being closely scrutinized in the coming days.

Video script:

With the coming January 13 elections in Taiwan being a three-way race, campaign rallies are being held around the island and all eyes have been watching the candidate's movements closely as the competition for votes heat up.

The candidates are not the only ones being observed. The polls are also being closely monitored to determine how the candidates are faring.

According to a poll conducted by CM Media, support for DPP’s Lai Ching-te (賴清德) went up to 29.5% after the first policy presentations of the presidential candidates. KMT’s Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) however, went down to 22.7% and the greatest increase went to TPP’s Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) whose support went up to 27.8%

Another poll by online news outlet CNEWS showed DPP in the lead with a support of 35.9% and KMT coming in second with 27.6%. TPP at 25.5% was not far behind with only a 2.1% difference from the KMT.

My-formosa.com also conducted their own poll reflecting a similar trend, with DPP being first with the support of 38.9%, KMT coming in second at 29.4% and TPP trailing last with only 17.2% support.

While polls may give a good indication of how the candidates are doing, the only way to find out for sure will be on election day.
