The Presidential Office on Wednesday revealed their spring couplets, red envelopes, and lucky bags for the upcoming Year of the Dragon. Presidential Office Spokesperson Olivia Lin (林聿禪) says that from January 1 until February 7, the items will be distributed during open-house activities at the Presidential Office. In addition, individuals can also request these items from various joint service centers of the Cabinet during this period.
The calligraphy on the couplets was done by artist Chien Po-yu (簡伯諭), who has previously contributed three times to the design of the Presidential Office's spring couplets. The message in the design extends wishes for good luck and prosperity to people from all walks of life.
The red envelopes and lucky bags were designed by the artist Yen Yun-shan (顏妘珊). Yen says that dragons possess many characteristic features of mythical creatures and symbolize strength and auspiciousness in Eastern culture. She says that for the design, she simplified the dragon's form, presenting it with more rounded lines and an artistic, silhouetted approach and aimed to convey a sense of harmony and a smooth journey forward.
