The Health and Welfare Ministry has announced that starting next year, childcare subsidies will be increased to lessen the financial burden on parents and address declining birth rates.
Monthly subsidies for children under 3 years of age sent to public childcare centers will be increased from NT$5,500 (US$178) to NT$7,000 (US$227). Subsidies for children who go to publicly subsidized private child care centers or for home child care services, such as nannies, will increase from NT$8,500 (US$275) to NT$13,000 (US$421).
Additional public childcare subsidies will also be provided to low-income families and lower-middle income households. Subsidies for children from low-income and disadvantaged families will be increased to NT$11,000 (US$356). Subsidies for children from lower-middle income households will be increased to NT$9,000 (US$292).
Subsidies for publicly subsidized private childcare centers for families of low-income and lower-middle income households will likewise be adjusted. Subsidies for low-income and disadvantaged families will be increased to NT$17,000 (US$551). Subsidies for lower-middle income households will be increased to NT$13,000 (US$421).
