As the world counts down to the New Year, Taiwan's Foreign Ministry is set to broadcast the Taipei 101 New Year's Eve fireworks live to the global audience via international satellites starting at 11:55 PM local time on Sunday.
The ministry has sent the satellite broadcast information to overseas offices, enabling local TV stations and online media worldwide to download and broadcast the event. The broadcast will also be available for use by reporters from international media in Taiwan.
This year's theme, "Colorful World," symbolizes a post-pandemic return to normalcy, vibrant lifestyles, and a leap forward in human innovation in 2024. The Foreign Ministry extends well wishes for a hopeful and beautiful future and welcomes tourists from around the world to visit Taiwan.
The 300-second display will include 16,000 fireworks with characteristics of both Taiwan and Japan for a dazzling and colorful performance. A highlight reel of the fireworks will be available on the ministry's "Trending Taiwan" YouTube channel after the event.
Taipei 101 has been hosting New Year's Eve fireworks since 2003 and has been selected as one of the world's top ten unique city New Year’s Eve events by CNN.
