The Quadrantid meteor shower will be the first celestial phenomenon of 2024, debuting on Thursday night. The Taipei Astronomical Museum says that this year’s events will be exciting, including planetary conjunctions, comets approaching the Earth, and a once-in-a-decade lunar occultation of Saturn.
According to the museum’s weather forecast, the Quadrantid meteor shower should be visible to Taiwan starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The number of meteors per hour is predicted to be about 80 up to 110 meteors with the best viewing conditions before the moon rises at midnight.
For those who want to watch from home, the Taipei Astronomical Museum will broadcast the shower live from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight.
