A further four Chinese balloons were detected crossing the Taiwan Strait median line and into Taiwan’s northern and southwestern airspace on Tuesday, according to the Defense Ministry. Two balloons had been detected crossing the median line on Monday.

Three of the balloons crossed over central Taiwan at 105, 160, and 159 nautical miles southwest of Ching-Chuan-Kang Air Base in Taichung, and the other at 78 nautical miles northwest of Keelung. The balloons had recorded altitudes ranging from 12,000 to 24,000 feet and disappeared at 10:48 a.m., 5:18 p.m., 7:01 p.m., and 7:02 p.m. Tuesday.

The ministry also reported that between 6 a.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, nine incursions of Chinese military aircraft and four naval vessels were detected. One Xi'an JH-7 fighter jet and one BZK003 drone crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s southwestern and northwestern airspace.
