DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te kicked off his nationwide campaign, greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic supporters, prompting an increase in security.

DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te (賴清德) started his nationwide campaign on Wednesday. Lai, amidst enthusiastic cheers, engaged with supporters along the route. Security personnel, including campaign manager Pan Men-an (潘孟安), intervened when necessary to maintain order.
Following a recent incident involving passionate supporters where even Pan was momentarily blocked, security measures were increased. Despite the tense atmosphere, Lai's popularity remained evident, with the campaign employing vigilant security personnel to address potential issues.
The first stop was at the Taipei Arena, the same location where Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) began her street campaign. Lai expressed his hope to continue the momentum set by Tsai's campaign at the same location four years ago.
Lai’s running mate Hsiao Bi-khim was also on the streets of Banqiao in New Taipei, wishing a good morning to all the people on their way to work.
In addition, the DPP has launched an advertisement symbolizing the significance of inheritance and continuity of the ruling party. President Tsai hands over the car to the Lai-Hsiao team, with the words, “You will definitely drive it better than me,” to which he replies that he has learned it all from her and together they won’t have any problems.
The final days of the campaign will see Lai making a determined push, aiming to steer the nation forward as he metaphorically holds the "keys to the country," following in the footsteps of President Tsai.
