With the presidential and legislative elections upcoming, salary levels are the top priority for workers. According to the results of a survey conducted by the online job portal yes123 released on Thursday, in order of importance, respondents ranked salary levels first, followed by employee benefits, working hours, retirement pension systems, and leave policies.
More than 74% of workers responded that they are going to vote in the upcoming elections. The results also show that 68% of companies are willing to allow workers to return home early to vote.
The survey results showed that upwards of 32% of workers admitted to having engaged in disputes with colleagues or superiors due to differing political views. Additionally, more than 20% of companies strictly prohibit discussions about politics during working hours.
The yes123 Spokesperson Yang Tsung-pin (楊宗斌) says that, regarding voting rights, employees with the right to vote are entitled to a day off, and those working on election day can choose between overtime pay or compensatory time off based on their preference.
