A recent survey by a job bank showed on Friday that 48% of workers are contemplating a job change, aspiring to earn a monthly salary approaching NT$50,000 (1,600US$). The study, based on 1,071 valid responses, demonstrates a noticeable decrease from nearly 90% during the pandemic in 2021 and signals improved economic stability this past year.
The survey highlights the salary expectations for job retention. Regular employees seek a raise of NT$5,690 (US$184) on average. However, more than 25% of respondents expressed unwillingness to stay regardless of the offered raise.
Several individuals shared their reasons for considering a change. A 28-year-old programmer described a lack of communication and support from his current supervisor, leading him to decide to resign by the end of January. Another case involves a 28-year-old engineer who resigned from a previous job in the electronics industry due to dissatisfaction with emotional demands for overtime.
This year's job switch intentions reveal that nearly 39% of respondents might prefer a different industry but the same position, while 31.5% are considering a change in both industry and position. Information technology remains the top choice for job seekers, followed by the finance sector.
