Taiwan's military detected another four Chinese balloons crossing the Taiwan Strait median line on Tuesday. This is the eighth consecutive day that Chinese balloons have been detected. The Defense Ministry says that the incursions are part of a cognitive warfare strategy, intending to disrupt Taiwan's defense and create a gray zone disturbance.

Wang Chia-chun (王家駿) of the Defense Ministry’s Joint Operations Planning Division stated at a regular press conference on Tuesday that the military would assess the threat level and respond accordingly. Wang says that Taiwan's military refrains from shooting down the balloons, as such action would achieve the Chinese Communist Party’s purpose of disrupting Taiwan’s combat readiness and consuming military resources.

Defense Ministry Spokesperson Sun Li-fang (孫立方) also stated that Taiwan’s military response is based on the degree of threat. If there is a significant threat, the military will proactively respond with countermeasures.
