The Keelung Lighthouse, with a history spanning 123 years, officially opened to the public on Wednesday, becoming the 22nd lighthouse in Taiwan accessible to visitors.

The Transport Ministry’s Maritime and Port Bureau Director Yeh Hsieh-lung (葉協隆) says the location of the lighthouse offers breathtaking views of ships entering the harbour. Yeh encourages visitors to plan trips to explore multiple lighthouses in Taiwan.

The bureau aims to continue improving lighthouse tourism in Taiwan with plans to open the Taichung Gaomei Lighthouse, which will be the first to offer accommodation, and the Qimei Lighthouse in Penghu during the upcoming summer tourist season.
