The Economic Affairs Ministry’s International Trade Administration (ITA) has announced that Resolutions 2 and 3 of the Taiwan-Eswatini Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) have officially come into effect. Nuts, dried fruits, sugar cane molasses, brewed beverages, and textiles, among other items, are now tariff-free, a major adjustment from their original import tax ranging from 2.5% to 27%.
The ITA points out that Eswatini and Taiwan have a close friendship that is solid and stable, with bilateral economic and trade relations continuing to deepen. It states that recently, it has actively promoted Eswatini participation in international exhibitions in Taiwan to feature its culture and high-quality food. The administration says that it will continue expanding Eswatini’s presence in the Taiwan market and assist businesses on both sides to explore opportunities.
