The Foreign Ministry held a briefing on Tuesday for representative offices in Taiwan regarding the results of Taiwan’s recently concluded presidential, vice-presidential and legislative elections.
The briefing explained the voting and counting procedures of the election and included data analysis of the results. The briefing was attended by 48 representatives and ambassadors. Ambassador of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Andrea Clare Bowman congratulated Taiwan on the success of the election on behalf of the diplomatic missions. She also praised the democratic achievements of Taiwan and reiterated the firm support of diplomatic allies for the island nation.
In addition, the ministry also notified its embassies and offices around the world of the election results. In the notice, it was emphasized that the Taiwanese people have fully demonstrated their commitment to defending the values of democracy and freedom. It said that Taiwan will continue to work together with democratic partners to counter the expansion of authoritarian states.
The Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Jeff Liu (劉永健) says that Taiwan’s successful completion of the elections has attracted worldwide attention. So far, the ministry has received congratulatory messages from more than 80 countries and 700 dignitaries around the world.
