The Foreign Ministry held a flag-awarding ceremony on Wednesday for a delegation from the Teen Diplomatic Envoy program. The delegation is set to depart for an 11-day diplomatic mission to Australia and New Zealand starting January 28. The group aims to strengthen ties and exchange experiences with the two Pacific nations.
In his address, Deputy Foreign Minister Kelly Hsieh (謝武樵), emphasized the rich cultural diversity, social harmony, and openness of both Australia and New Zealand. He encouraged the young ambassadors to seize this opportunity, broaden their horizons, and gain valuable insights.
The Teen Diplomatic Envoy program, now in its 20th year, engaged approximately 2,500 schools and 10,000 students in its selection process. Hsieh says that the program plays a crucial role in enhancing English proficiency among high school students.
In his address, Australian deputy representative to Taiwan Daniel Stuart welcomed the young ambassadors. He gave an introduction to his country and extended an invitation to consider Australian higher education opportunities
