Presidential Office spokesperson Olivia Lin (林聿禪) on Wednesday welcomed the first Lithuanian parliamentarian delegation to arrive following Taiwan’s 2024 presidential elections.

Leading the delegation is the head of a Lithuanian-Taiwan friendship group Matas Maldeikis. The delegation is comprised of 11 legislators from both ruling and opposition parties, including deputy speakers Vytautas Mitalas, Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė and Julius Sabatauskas.

Lin says that President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) will be receiving the delegation on Thursday morning to exchange views on the promotion of bilateral ties and the strengthening of Taiwan-Lithuania economic, trade, and technological cooperation.

Lin adds that the presidential office looks forward to the continued promotion of bilateral relations between Taiwan and Lithuania and hopes that cooperation in the areas of agriculture, health and medical fields, economy, trade, science, and technology will be strengthened.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the delegation will be staying in Taiwan until January 26 and will be visiting Taiwan's National Security Council, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the National Development Council to exchange views on potential areas of cooperation.
