Taiwan Eastbound Alliance - Landing America (TeaLa) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Czech National Semiconductor Cluster representative Tomáš Sivíček, and the Czech Economic and Cultural Office on Thursday. The MOU was signed at a seminar hosted by TeaLa in Taiwan.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is diversifying its global presence. In 2023, TSMC announced its plan to establish a factory in Dresden, Germany, which is expected to attract Taiwanese supply chains to nearby countries such as the Czech Republic.
Taiwan Deputy Economics Minister Chen Chern-Chyi (陳正祺) emphasized the Czech Republic's investment-friendly environment, with over 25% of foreign investment being in the Czech manufacturing sector. Taiwanese investments in the Czech manufacturing sector, led by Foxconn, total approximately US$180 million.
The First Chairman Of TeaLa J.W. Kuo (郭智輝) sees potential in the Czech Republic and proposes establishing a semiconductor industrial zone in the Czech Republic with joint support from the government and corporations involved. Though plans for setting up a semiconductor manufacturing company in the Czech Republic might not take shape till after 2030, Kuo said the supply chain could start operations earlier, aligning with TSMC's German factory completion by 2025.
