Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency confirmed that the three Chinese nationals who arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday have been transported back to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday morning.
Tian Yongde (田永德), Wei Yani (韋亞妮), and Wei’s son Huang Xingjing (黃星星) arrived in Taiwan from Malaysia on Tuesday. In an interview with Radio Free Asia on Tuesday evening in Taiwan, Tian and Wei shared that they are political victims of the Chinese government and hope to seek temporary asylum in Taiwan before they receive their visas to their final destination. The three also showed their refugee certificates from the United Nations Refugee Agency they received previously from Thailand.
Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency said since Tian, Wei, and Huang ditched the final leg of their flights bound for Beijing and do not hold valid visas or temporary certificates for Taiwan, they have to be transported back to their place of departure, Kuala Lumpur, according to Taiwan’s immigration laws. The Agency has confirmed that Tian, Wei, and Huang departed from Taiwan on a flight taking off at 10:16 am Taiwan time on Thursday for Kuala Lumpur.
