President Tsai receives Eswatini foreign minister at Presidential Office

President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) received Eswatini Foreign Minister Pholile Shakantu and her delegation at the Presidential Office on Friday morning. The group arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday.

President Tsai says that interactions and exchanges between Taiwan and Eswatini have become increasingly close in recent years. She thanked Eswatini for its long-term support of Taiwan's international participation in venues such as the United Nations General Assembly and the World Health Assembly.

Tsai says that through effective bilateral cooperation mechanisms, the two countries have achieved fruitful results in the fields of economy, trade, public health, information and communications, and more. She said she looks forward to the two sides continuing to deepen relations in the future.

In her speech, Foreign Minister Shakantu congratulated Taiwan for successfully holding a fair, transparent, and efficient election, saying that the high turnout indicates the people's confidence in Taiwan's democracy. She thanked President Tsai for her support and assistance to Eswatini during her tenure. She said that under her leadership, Taiwan has actively promoted diplomatic relations, economic and trade development, and safeguarded human rights. Shakantu reiterated that Eswatini will continue to firmly support Taiwan's sovereignty and right to have complete and fair participation in the international community.
