Vice President and President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德) attended an event for university students sponsored by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) on Monday before the start of the Lunar New Year holidays.

Vice President Lai expressed gratitude towards TFCF for their longstanding efforts in assisting over 500,000 children from impoverished families at home and abroad.

Lai emphasized the government's commitment to supporting vulnerable children, highlighting the Social Safety Net Program initiated in 2018, and pledged to further strengthen the program, ensuring comprehensive support for vulnerable children.

“I will continue to strengthen and collaborate with the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families  and other social welfare organizations," Lai said. "Building upon the existing social safety net, I will integrate various systems to make the entire network complete. This is what I will execute in the future.”

During the event, university students from countries such as Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Swaziland shared their experiences and gratitude for the assistance provided by TFCF.

Lai welcomed overseas students to come to Taiwan to experience the warmth and kindness of the Taiwanese people and reiterated Taiwan's commitment to international cooperation and giving back to the global community.
