Seven aircraft, five ship sorties, and two Chinese balloons were detected in the Taiwan Strait from 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. Three of the aircraft entered Taiwan's southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) with one balloon passing over the main island of Taiwan, according to the Defense Ministry.
The national army reported that the two Chinese balloons crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait yesterday. One reached an altitude of 25,000 feet at 12:45 p.m. and disappeared at 1:17 p.m. The other balloon entered the ADIZ northwest of Taichung and passed over the island at an altitude of 22,000 feet, disappearing at 8:22 p.m. yesterday evening, according to a tracking map released by the Taiwan Air Force.
The military uses mission aircraft, ships, and shore-based missile systems to closely monitor and respond to activities around the Taiwan Strait.
