The Taiwan Railway Corporation (TRC) celebrated a remarkable milestone with its tourism train revenue surpassing the NT$100 million (US$3.2 million) mark for the first time.

TRC General Manager Feng Hui-sheng (馮輝昇) says that revenue from the two tourism trains, the "Future" and the” Breezy Blue", achieved this milestone by the end of last year. The trains are operated in partnership with Lion Travel, one of the leading travel agencies in Taiwan who won the right through a public tender.

The success encouraged the TRC to launch two additional railway train tours this summer to further enhance their tourism fleet. Feng emphasizes the significance of this growth, stating that this will not only provide a more comprehensive line of tourism trains but will also allow more international visitors to personally experience the railway tours.

Lion Travel Director Huang Hsin-chuan (黃信川) also lauds the success of the tourism trains. Huang highlights not only the transformation of regular train passengers into tourists but also the international recognition given to the “Future” and “Breezy Blue” train tours. He says that “Breezy Blue” alone has hosted over 110,000 passengers over a period of two years. Moreover, the exceptional service of both tourism trains has been acknowledged internationally, winning the German iF Good Design Award 2023. Huang adds that the “Future” train will serve as a mobile meeting room during the "World Indigenous Tourism Summit" scheduled in April, showcasing Taiwan's railway tourism on the global stage once again.
