The Defense Ministry reported that a Chinese military aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s northern air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on Tuesday.
The ministry added that the aircraft was one of the two Chinese military aircraft and four naval vessels that were detected around Taiwan. Chinese military activity was monitored from 6 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. this morning.
A Chinese balloon was also detected during the surveillance period. The balloon’s presence was noted at 7:09 a.m. Monday flying 58 miles northwest of Taichung. It was flying at an altitude of 18,000 feet and ‘disappeared’ at 7:57 a.m.
The ministry stated that air and naval patrols were deployed with land-based missile systems to respond to the activities.
