Taiwan’s Water Resources Agency is encouraging travelers to visit six recommended water-themed ecological routes before the Lunar New Year holiday ends.

Taiwan’s Water Resources Agency, under the Economics Ministry, is tasked to not only manage water resources and treatment but is also responsible for the protection of the waterfront environment and ecology. The agency says the recommendations aim to not only foster appreciation for Taiwan's natural beauty but also hope that the public can contribute to safeguarding the quality of Taiwan’s water environment.

The recommended destinations in the north include the Ganyuan Shengtai Riverside Park in New Taipei City, featuring the heart-shaped pool "Mu-hsin Pond" (沐心池) and Taoyuan's Dakekan Water Park  (大嵙崁親水園區), which offers family-friendly activities along the Dahan River.

In central Taiwan, Taichung's Fa Zi River Educational Center (筏子渓水文化曁環境教育館) integrates ecological education and highlights the unique water characteristics of the Fazi Riverway (台中筏子溪), which serves as a vital water habitat for various birds.

Southern Taiwan’s recommended routes include the rejuvenated Yuejin Harbor Water Park (月津港親水公園) in Tainan where the the surrounding historical buildings and landscape highlight the elegance of this ancient port. The agency also recommends Kaohsiung's picturesque Meinong Lake (美濃湖), where one can get a glimpse into Hakka culture at the nearby Meinong Hakka Cultural Museum in addition to the beautiful scenery

Last but not least, is Hualien's Taipingyang Park (太平洋公園) in the east which features the Huilan Gulf Stream and also has parent-child playgrounds and sports fields suitable for leisure activities.
