Current DPP Vice President and President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德) visited Donglong Temple and Jade Emperor Temple in Pingtung to pray for blessings and distribute lucky red envelopes to residents, on Wednesday. The visit which came on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year is part of Lai’s tour around Taiwan during the New Year holidays.
During Lai’s visit, he delivered a speech, in which he prayed to the Jade Emperor, to protect Taiwan’s peace, prosperity, and for the contentment of its people. He also thanked voters for their support for the DPP in the 2024 elections, in which Lai was elected as the next president and in which Chung Chia-pin (鍾佳濱) and Hsu Fu-kuei (徐富癸) won legislative seats.
Lai’s next stop on the tour is expected to be Kaohsiung, where he will visit Wujia Longcheng Temple and Fu Ding Jin Bao An Temple, and pay his New Year's greetings to the people of Kaohsiung.
