The Labor Ministry announced on Friday that the current number of furloughed workers, also known as workers on unpaid leave, is the lowest in 2.5 years. The ministry released a report stating that the number of companies implementing furlough has decreased by 24 to a total of 337 companies. Subsequently, the number of employees affected has decreased by 1,660 individuals, dropping to a total of 7,446 people.
Labor Standards Director Huang Wei-chen (黃維琛) says the decline is primarily attributed to the manufacturing sector, signaling a positive trend with over 1,500 fewer employees affected. He also notes that despite some manufacturers remaining conservative, the overall trend in the industry suggests gradual improvement, signifying a broader labor market recovery.
