Taiwan’s legislature established the Taiwan-France Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association and the Taiwan-Poland Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association on Monday.
Foreign Deputy Minister Kelly Hsieh (謝武樵) stated that Taiwan, France, and Poland are like-minded democratic partners. He said that systematic affiliation can enhance friendship and understanding, strengthen parliamentary diplomacy, and foster comprehensive collaborations between both sides. Hsieh noted the significance of frequent visits and exchanges, along with the support of French and Polish parliaments in recent years, which have highlighted the importance of the inter-parliamentary amity associations.
Polish Office in Taipei Director Cyryl Kozaczewski said the Taiwan and Poland relationship has continued to grow in fields including semiconductor technology and culture and education. He said he believes the establishment of the organization will bring more benefits for both. He also expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid Taiwan provided to Ukrainian refugees.
French Office in Taipei Director Franck Paris said the inter-parliamentary amity association signifies friendly exchange and connection through democratic relations. He continued that Taiwan has recently successfully completed its presidential and legislative elections and said that he hopes both sides can share their experiences of democracy and continue to reinforce democratic values.
Hsieh said Taiwan has established profound and comprehensive exchanges and collaborations with the two countries and hopes to deepen bilateral relations in the future.
