The Tourism Administration will be distributing limited editions of Taiwan Lantern Festival lucky bags for free to international visitors entering Taiwan from February 22 to 24, 2024. The giveaways are part of the administration’s promotion of Taiwan's 2024 Lantern Festival, which aims not only to introduce Taiwan’s traditional folk culture and festivals but also to market the domestic tourism and recreation industry.
The theme of this year’s Lantern Festival is “The Dragon Comes to Taiwan" and will take place in Tainan City from February 24 to March 10. A total of more than 300 lanterns will be displayed in two main areas - the "High Speed Rail Lantern Area" and the "Anping Lantern Area."
The Tourism Administration told a reporter from the Central News Agency that there are only 10,000 bags available and expects these to be distributed within three days. The lucky bags contain a small lantern, a Year of the Dragon red envelope, a NT$500 discount coupon for Taiwan Pass, and a one-time use NT$300 discount coupon for tickets to any of Taiwan’s 13 theme parks.
