Taiwanese company Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Technology Group, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a gala dinner at Taipei’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Tuesday. Many high-profile guests attended to celebrate the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, including Founder Terry Gou (郭台銘) and Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams. Apple CEO Tim Cook shared his congratulations via a video message.
Before the gala, Foxconn Chairman Young Liu (劉揚偉) said that Foxconn is taking steps to evolve from a manufacturing company to a technology platform. He says Foxconn will continue to develop in the direction of three platforms: smart manufacturing, smart electric vehicles, and smart cities. He added that moving forward, Foxconn will have even deeper and more extensive cooperation with its major client, Apple.
Other notable industry guests included TSMC Vice Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei (魏哲家), SoftBank Group Corp. Founder and CEO Masayoshi Son, and Gogoro Founder and CEO Horace Luke (陸學森). Government officials including Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan (鄭文燦) and Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua (王美花) also attended.
