The 20th Taiwan International Orchid Show (TIOS) and the 23rd World Orchid Conference will be held simultaneously in the International Conference Center (ICC) Tainan. This combined major event in the global orchid industry will begin on Saturday and continue for 16 days.
The Tainan City Government issued a press release stating that this year's integrated exhibition is also a first in the history of Taiwan's orchid industry. The joint event is themed, “Whirling orchids dance throughout the world," and covers Taiwan's orchid conservation, history and culture, academic research, life application, and other diverse aspects.
In a press conference last Friday, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) announced two featured displays to be unveiled on Saturday. He details that the ICC Tainan will exhibit a “flag wall” made up of spray-dyed orchids, saying that using orchids to display the national flags of participating countries will show the vitality of Taiwan's orchid industry and technological capabilities. Huang adds that the second display will showcase diversity with themed landscapes, digital interaction, and more in the orchid area of the Agricultural Biotechnology Park.
Huang emphasizes that this event will promote Taiwan's orchids to the world, create more development opportunities, market Tainan's agricultural products, explore potential customer sources, and create business opportunities.
