The Taiwanese man found dead in an abandoned store near Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, has been identified as wanted-fugitive Shih Mao-chiang (石茂強). This was the word from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Monday after fingerprints provided by Thai authorities were authenticated.

Shih, who was wanted for robbery and weapons control regulation violations, was identified as Taiwanese by a tattoo artist who saw photos released by the media. According to Thai media reports, a forensic inspection confirmed that 44-year-old Shih died from three gunshot wounds to the head on Friday. A half kilogram of ketamine was also found at the scene.

CIB International Criminal Affairs Division Chief Lee Kung-Ta (李昆達) explains that evidence indicates the storefront is not the primary crime scene. He says that Thai police are currently scanning the local surveillance system and interviewing witnesses to find the crime scene and possible suspects.

Lee states that the case is still under investigation and the CIB will keep in close contact with the Thai police and provide assistance if needed.
