Taiwan’s very first indigenous submarine “Hai Kun” drew the attention of military fans in Kaohsiung on Tuesday.

Video script:

Taiwan’s first domestically built submarine “ Hai Kun” was seen making its way out of the docks aboard Jong Shyn floating dock No. 8 in Kaohsiung harbor on Tuesday morning. Guided by several tug boats and patrol boats the Hai Kun headed for the shipyard to undergo further installation and testing. Military enthusiasts gathered, eager to witness and take photos of the submarine in detail.

One excited military fan says it is very special to see Taiwan’s first indigenous submarine, especially to be able to see its entirety, as subs are generally half submerged in the water.

Another on the scene says that yesterday the view of the sub was partially blocked and it wasn't possible to see the whole vessel, but today he can see the whole ship very clearly.

Groups gathered to photograph and document the progress of Taiwan's inaugural submarine. Military expert Sung Chao-wen (宋兆文) says the submarine’s testing phase is a very significant part of the process, emphasizing its crucial role before the vessel is commissioned into service.

As Taiwan's first indigenous submarine, the Hai Kun represents a significant milestone in the nation's defense capabilities, marking a new chapter in its naval history.
