Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry has stated that the friendship between Taiwan and Tuvalu remains strong, emphasizing the support from the country’s newly elected Prime Minister Feleti Teo who took office on Monday.

According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jeff Liu (劉永健), Prime Minister Teo has consistently expressed support for the robust diplomatic ties between Taiwan and Tuvalu. Liu also reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting Tuvalu on diplomatic fronts.

Liu says Prime Minister Teo, having previously served as Tuvalu's Attorney General, has had close interactions and cooperation with Taiwan. Teo also made several visits to Taiwan during his tenure at the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency and the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission.

Regarding whether Prime Minister Teo will be invited to attend the May 20 inauguration ceremony of Taiwan's new president, the Foreign Ministry says it will send out invitations to heads of friendly nations and dignitaries in coordination with the Office of the President.
