12 out of 19 observed sorties crossed the Taiwan Strait median line and entered the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) between 6 a.m. on Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday according to the Defense Ministry. The aircraft crossed into the northern, southwestern, and eastern airspace, with the closest flying roughly 43 miles from Keelung.

The Defense Ministry also issued a press release on Wednesday morning reporting detected Chinese activity at 9:55 a.m. Of the 15 sorties observed, ten crossed over the median line and included Chengdu J-10 and Shaanxi Y-8 aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

The ministry emphasized that the military uses mission aircraft, ships, and shore-based missile systems to closely monitor and respond to activities around the Taiwan Strait.
