Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) highlighted the recent labor cooperation memorandum signed between Taiwan and India during a recent interview with Indian news outlet News X, according to the Foreign Ministry on Friday.
In the interview, Wu said Taiwan has a booming economy but is facing labor shortages and also praised India's diligent workforce and high labor standards. He says the memorandum will provide more opportunities for collaboration on both sides.
Wu says Taiwan looks forward to strengthening cooperation and exchanges with India in economy, culture, education, and agriculture and cited India's vast market and Taiwan's semiconductor expertise as promising areas for collaboration.
Wu also pointed to Indian high-tech talents and scholars in Taiwan and expects they will play an important role in the future development of India’s semiconductor industry. Wu added that Taiwan is also actively providing assistance to Taiwanese companies interested in venturing into the Indian market and hopes to sign a free trade agreement with India to further deepen bilateral economic and trade relations.
