Veteran’s Affairs Council Minister Feng Shih-kuan (馮世寬) briefed the Legislature’s Foreign and National Defense Committee on Wednesday on the council's efforts to bolster exchanges with veteran organizations worldwide.
Feng reported that the council has plans this year to strengthen communication mechanisms with veteran organizations in Europe and other democratically aligned countries to broaden international cooperation.
Responding to questions from DPP Legislator Wang Ting-yu (王定宇), Feng stated that this marks the first time the council has engaged in dialogue with European veteran-related entities. Feng acknowledged the likelihood of interference from across the strait and refrained from disclosing specific countries or timelines for the visits.
Feng says his preference is to assign a deputy to lead the visits, citing some countries' concerns regarding visits by former generals, especially those who have served as ministers. Feng also pledged to submit a detailed report to the Legislature’s Foreign and National Defense Committee following the conclusion of the visits.
