Vice President and President-Elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德) received a visiting Japan Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JTCC) delegation on Monday.
The vice president expressed his admiration for Taiwanese businessmen who have achieved success in Japan and thanked them for their long-term support for Taiwan. He pointed out that the establishment of a TSMC factory in Kumamoto shows that Taiwan and Japan can harness win-win situations through cooperation and contribute to the world's economic prosperity.
Lai emphasized that in addition to the fondness between their people and the close economic and trade relationship, both island countries share the common values of democracy, freedom, and human rights. He said he therefore very much looks forward to building an even closer friendship, which will also contribute to the stable and peaceful development of the region.
